Columbus Bilingual Central is a public charter school in Columbus, Ohio, emphasizing Spanish language and cultural studies. Our well-rounded program provides rigorous, accredited academics for elementary students (K-6). We provide at least 45 minutes of daily Spanish instruction and utilize the award-winning Blitz™ academic model to effectively teach learning standards and familiarize students with state testing strategies to build confidence with fun and friendly competition throughout the year. We maintain high standards of behavior with a positive behavior program and student uniform policy. Families can rely on our safe, secure campus and nurturing teachers and staff, many of whom are bilingual.
We offer nutritious breakfast & lunch (free or reduced for qualifying students), free tutoring and summer programs, and before & after-school care to support busy families. Our elementary program is currently enrolling K-6 students, with full-day Kindergarten with Early Entrance into Kindergarten for eligible for children born Oct 1 – Dec 31 who pass an assessment.

Michael Mora Brenes, Executive Principal
Mr. Mora Brenes was born and raised in Costa Rica and moved to Delaware, Ohio, in 2013 to pursue his Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Sociology from Ohio Wesleyan University. He joined ACCEL Schools in 2017 and has worked in numerous instructional and administrative roles. Mr. Mora Brenes served as Columbus Bilingual Academy North’s Assistant Principal of Academics since 2019 and became the head of school in December 2022. Mr. Mora Brenes most recently completed his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Youngstown State University.
Maria Garcia, Principal
Maria Garcia earned a bachelor’s degree in social science with a concentration in Criminal Justice, bringing a unique and insightful perspective to the educational landscape. Her education journey began over 11 years ago, starting as a Middle School Science Teacher. This career path, initially sparked by an opportunity to teach life skills to juveniles as a correctional officer, quickly blossomed into a profound passion for nurturing young minds. Read More »
